The violence and land invasions are all related to privately owned farms and have nothing to do with the government owned national parks. The question is " are you covered by your insurance." Most brokers are not willing to cover travelers in Zimbabwe because of the bad press. That is all it is. The country is quite safe to travel in and the threat of a civil war is a farce. As long as your medical aid is paid up MARS (Medical Air Rescue Service) will cover your initial trauma and transport to the nearest medical facility. It is advisable to carry your details on safari with you so as to be able to present them to the MARS unit if neccessary.
